Building on the success of the widely used DawaPlus® 2.0 LLINs, subsequent innovation has resulted in the new generation of DawaPlus® nets – DawaPlus® 3.0 and DawaPlus® 4.0 – using patented insecticide technology to improve efficacy of the nets.
Designed specifically for regions in which mosquitoes have developed resistance to pyrethroid insecticides, the synergist targets the resistance mechanism, allowing the insecticide to be fully effective.
Incorporation of Piperonyl butoxide (PBO) into the roof of DawaPlus® 3.0 netting
The new generation DawaPlus® 3.0 offers long-lasting insecticide-synergist netting. Piperonyl butoxide (PBO) is incorporated into the roof of the netting, with the sides of deltamethrin coated polyester.
The PBO is a synergist, considerably enhancing the effectiveness of the pyrethroid insecticide by suppressing the mosquito’s enzyme defenses. We optimize each yarn to release either PBO or deltamethrin. This way we can ensure a proper ratio of the synergist during the lifetime of the net.
